The sub-committee will monitor, review, investigate and raise awareness of topics related to the environment including but not limited to:
- Renewable energy
- Energy efficiency/saving
- Retrofitting
- Healthy streets/public health
- Greening/biodiversity
- Air quality
- Public transport
- Active travel
- Road danger
- EVs
- Noise pollution
- Air traffic noise
- Recycling and waste
- Climate emergency mitigation/adaptation (inc carbon emissions, flood prevention, net zero)
The sub-committee will provide ideas, evidence, examples of best practice and, where appropriate, recommendations to the Executive Committee on the topics delegated by the Executive to the sub-committee.
Membership of the sub-committee will comprise people with relevant knowledge of or experience in the topics covered. Guests may include anyone requested to attend by the sub-committee in the course of pursuing its objectives.
The sub-committee will consider the full extent of the area covered by The Dulwich Society.
The sub-committee will endeavour to create and maintain links as appropriate with Southwark and Lambeth Council in recognition of the fact that The Dulwich Society operates in a wider local and city government policy context.
The sub-committee in making any recommendations will have regard to protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010.
