The Natural History Museum (NHM) is running a citizen science project to investigate the impact of noise pollution on insects. Insects are important for a healthy environment but noise can make it hard for them to communicate with each other and they may have to change their sounds to be heard in noisy places. The NHM needs people to collect data to better understand how road noise affect insects. Until now it has been difficult to investigate how noise affects insects but the NHM has developed technology to separate background noise and detect insect noise.
