Former East Dulwich Police Station Site
The good news on this site is that despite the rejection of the Society’s application to have the former police station identified as an asset of community value under the Community Right to Bid legislation, it has now been confirmed that the site is in the process of being bought by the Education Funding Authority for a new Harris Academy School.
Sydenham Hill Station
The refurbishment of the defective foot bridge started slightly late but is now underway – with the work being carried out in the early hours when trains are not running.  The contractor will be on site at least till the end of March.

Railway Bridges
Replacement work on the first two bridges in Croxted Road and Rosendale Road was carried out on programme.  The water main repair works in Village Way did not help the traffic in the area but everything is back to normal pending the start of the bridge works in Village Way. We are still waiting for more information on the date for the remedial work on the bridge by Herne Hill Station.

SCST Sports Ground
The planning application is going to committee on 11 February. The proposed new nursery has raised wider questions on the appropriateness of this kind of development on Metropolitan Open land. There have been several objections from adjoining residents.

Rosebery Lodge
Work on the refurbishment of the interior to form the Society’s proposed Dulwich Archive started on 24 January and should be finished on 6 March.

1 Fountain Drive
There is a current planning application to demolish this old Victorian House on the junction with Crystal Place Parade and build 6 new town houses. The developer has consulted extensively with local residents but the Society is concerned over the potential impact on trees on the site.
West Dulwich Dairy site
The Society has been told that Lambeth Clinical Commissioning Group may be having second thoughts about siting the Rosendale Road GP practice in the Dulwich Estate’s proposed new development on Croxted Road. This was a key element of the scheme and could hold up progress on the development.

Replacement for the stolen Barbara Hepworth Statue in Dulwich Park
The last progress meeting was put back pending more information on the delivery date for the new art work.

Burbage Road Pedestrian Island
The report on the response to the consultation letter has been delayed until the next Dulwich Community Council meeting in March.

S G Smith redevelopment
The Society understands that a new scheme is being discussed with Council planners and that it may contain a number of smaller units. We are awaiting a formal approach from the Dulwich Estate to comment on it.

Herne Hill Society Heritage Trail
The Herne Hill Society has just published a new expanded version of their Heritage Trail. It costs £8 and is available from some local bookshops.
