The Society's Travel and Environment Committee has a wide remit focusing on travel and its environmental impact in Dulwich. We cover:

  • Encouragement of a safer and more pleasant walking and cycling environment.
  • Provision of safe routes to school, encouraging children to walk and cycle to school safely.
  • Promotion of traffic calming and volume reduction in residential areas.
  • Enhancement of the scope and reliability of travel by public transport, both bus and train.
  • Improvement in street amenity and environment - including air quality.
  • Reduction in noise from aircraft and other sources.

We engage with statutory bodies such as Southwark and Lambeth Councils, Network Rail and Transport for London, and with other voluntary organisations, such as Living Streets and the London Cycling Campaign. Our meetings are regularly attended by councillors. We collaborate with local groups with similar objectives, including those concentrating on air quality, climate change and school travel.

We are always keen to welcome new members onto the committee, especially those from local families. You would be welcome to come to a meeting on a “trial” basis, to see us at work, and decide whether to join us.
